Meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Ukraine

The CEO of InterTurkmenTrade, Dmitry Petrov, and the representative of the Climate Protection Bureau (CPB), Viktor Khalabuzar, held a working meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Ukraine, Mr. Nurberdy Amanmuradov, during which the Parties discussed possible areas of cooperation.

In particular, the issue of interaction between the Parties in the field of combating climate change was considered.

The Turkmen side emphasized that Turkmenistan, like the rest of progressive humanity, is actively involved in international efforts and cooperation to address climate change and implement the provisions of the UNFCCC. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has noted on several occasions the commitment of Turkmenistan’s participation in addressing climate change issues. Under his leadership, Turkmenistan has already implemented and planned to implement a huge amount of measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by increasing energy efficiency in all spheres of the national economy. A substantial amount of financial resources is allocated from state budget for the modernization of enterprises. Projects are being carried out with the participation of international organizations. The Mejilis of Turkmenistan ratified the Paris agreement, approved at the Climate Conference in Paris on December 12, 2015 and signed by Turkmenistan on September 23, 2016 at the UN headquarters in New York.

The CPB Party prepared and submitted a proposal to implement the Program of energy efficiency, energy conservation and greenhouse gas emissions reduction in Turkmenistan to the Turkmen Party.
